Blood Sugar Balance
Let’s look at how our blood sugar balance works within our body….
Blood sugar balance is a tightly regulated mechanism by the body. It is how the body uses glucose, which is the simplest form sugar, brought in through the foods we eat to supply the body with energy. The majority of the day-to-day balancing of blood glucose is handled by the liver and the pancreas. When we ingest sugars and starches through our food and drink, this incoming sugar requires the pancreas to produce the hormone insulin, which will tell our cells to take up the blood glucose and use it for cellular energy. If we consume too much sugar continually it can cause a cascade of imbalances within our body leading to pre-diabetes, insulin resistance, type 2 diabetes and more.
